Visit to Andhra University’s Marine Monitoring Lab (19-21/2/2024)

Representatives of the European Partners visited the Marine Monitoring Lab (MML) of Andhra University, from 19 to 21 February 2024. Professor, ECOMARINE’s coordinator, Prof. Georgios Georgiou (University of Cyprus, Cyprus), Prof. José Luis Acuña Fernandez (University of Oviedo, Spain), and Mrs. Beatriz Tintoré Pujol-Soliano (Archipelagos Institute for Marine Conservation, Greece) were hosted by Professors Janakiram Pasupuleti and Katru Umadevi and guided through the facilities, where they were informed about the purchased equipment and the operation of the Lab. More specifically, the data collection and analyses as well as the implementation protocols have been reviewed with input from the personnel of the MML.

The MML has been established in the framework of the ECOMARINE Erasmus+ project and is one of the four MMLs envisioned by the project: two MMLs in India (Andhra University and in Kerala University) and another two in Malaysia (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and University Kebangsaan Malaysia). These Labs will allow the monitoring of marine ecosystems, microplastic pollution, and climate change following certain protocols and to be continued after the end of the project in the two partner countries.
